QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

OAKLEY PICKLEBALL COMPLEX

WHERE IS THE COMPLEX? At the Oakley Recreation/Rodeo Complex (4300 North State Road 32, Oakley Ut 84055)

WHEN CAN I PLAY? While the courts are new there isn't a big demand for court space, but we anticipate the courts will become quite busy in the mornings and evenings as word gets out that the courts are complete.  If the courts are open and are not reserved please use them at will.  Open Time Play is every morning from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM and every evening from 5:00 PM until dark.  The goal is to have enough players to encourage "drop-in" play on a daily basis.

WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL WHEN ALL THE COURTS ARE FULL? When the courts are full, the guidelines are for the beginner to intermediate players to "paddle-in" on the four east courts and the intermediate to advanced on the west courts. Separate paddle racks are on the fence for the east and west side.  This does not mean you have to play with others if you have your own group.  It simply means that your group will rotate in using the paddle system just like an individual between games.

When using the paddle system, please move the chain to the next group upon entering the court for your play.

(Courts 7 and 8 can also be used as challenge courts, where a team can challenge another team.  For this type of play - winners can stay on court for up to three games.)

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY, HOW CAN I LEARN? The Oakley Pickleball Club will be hosting clinics from time to time.  Please visit the Oakley City Facility Calendar to check for these clinics or use the Oakley Pickleball Club "group me" app.  In addition, the Oakley Pickleball Club is onsite in the mornings and evenings usually three to four times a week.  Members are happy to lend you a paddle and teach you the game.  Don't be bashful about asking for assistance - we want you to learn and enjoy the game!

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN OTHERS MAY BE PLAYING? The Oakley Pickleball Club has a "group me" app that allows for groups to meet up, without getting on large email or text chains.  All are invited to use this app to facilitate play.

CAN I RESERVE A COURT? Court reservations can be made through Oakley City for $20/hour per court Monday - Friday.  At least four courts will always be left open during open play hours.  All for profit instruction must rent a court.  Please call the Oakley City Offices to make those reservations (435)783-5734.

WHAT DOES THE OAKLEY PICKLEBALL CLUB DO? Being a part of the club is an excellent way to meet new players, participate in clinics, and get regular play/game time.  It is free of charge. To get more information please email oakleypickleball@gmail.com

CAN I USE THE TENNIS COURT FOR PICKLEBALL? Tennis and basketball have priority in this area.  There are four pickleball courts painted on the tennis courts, however official use requires portable nets that must be pre-arranged with the City or Oakley Pickleball Club.  If tennis or basketball parties show up at the multi-use court and a pickleball game is in progress on that court.  The pickleball game should finish their game and then vacate the court.

WHERE DO I PARK? Please DO NOT park along the highway/State Road 32.  Use the parking areas in the complex just north of the courts.

WHO PAID FOR THE PICKLEBALL COMPLEX? The pickleball project was paid for in it's entirety from Summit County RAP Tax Grant monies.
